According to Divernet, Sun Online and DIVE Magazine, the Master Liveaboards vessel Blue Voyager, a 37 m steel liveaboard built in 2001 and the fleet's only Maldives boat, caught fire at Hulhumale near Male in the early hours of 7 November 2024 while on a maintenance break, the fire being reported to the MNDF at 3.42am. Twelve crew were evacuated; no guests were aboard and no injuries were reported. The vessel burned to the waterline and was damaged beyond repair. Sun Online and the MNDF referred to the vessel as Blue Vega; the date, place and circumstances match, one incident under two names. Divernet later reported that a new-build vessel, Maldives Master, was announced as her replacement.

ERA5 reanalysis via Open-Meteo, sampled 5 km from the recorded position. Modelled conditions across the whole day, not an observation at the vessel: a grid this coarse averages away the localised squall or wave a report may describe. Not a statement of cause.
