According to Philippine Coast Guard statements reported by GMA News, The Philippine Star, the Manila Bulletin and Divernet, the dive yacht Dream Keeper capsized and sank in a sudden squall in the early hours of 30 April 2023, about four nautical miles from the Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park in the Sulu Sea, three days out of San Remigio, Cebu; the Coast Guard was alerted at around 6:50am. Of the 32 aboard, 15 crew, five dive guides and 12 passengers, 28 were rescued by the nearby liveaboard Discovery Palawan. Four people remained missing and were thought trapped in the sunken vessel: the yacht's owner, a divemaster and two guests. The Coast Guard ended its rescue operation on 7 May 2023 and shifted to search and retrieval in support of a salvor contracted by the owners; The Philippine Star reported an oil sheen from the wreck being monitored. No recovery of the missing, and no completion of the salvage, was subsequently reported.

ERA5 reanalysis via Open-Meteo, sampled 8 km from the recorded position. Modelled conditions across the whole day, not an observation at the vessel: a grid this coarse averages away the localised squall or wave a report may describe. Not a statement of cause.
