According to Divernet, the liveaboard Red Sea Aggressor I (formerly Suzanna), operated by Aggressor Adventures, caught fire in the early hours of 1 November 2019 while moored overnight near Port Ghalib on the last night of a seven-night Brothers/Daedalus/Elphinstone trip. One female guest died in the fire; the cause was never established. The other 18 guests and 12 Egyptian crew evacuated after being woken by the smell of fumes and were picked up by the nearby liveaboard Asmaa. Aggressor Adventures CEO Wayne B Brown said the company would not speculate on cause and described fleet-wide safety reviews undertaken partly in response to the Conception fire two months earlier.

ERA5 reanalysis via Open-Meteo, sampled 20 km from the recorded position. Modelled conditions across the whole day, not an observation at the vessel: a grid this coarse averages away the localised squall or wave a report may describe. Not a statement of cause.
