According to The Scuba News, the liveaboard Emperor Echo, operated by Emperor Divers, was moored at Fury Shoals on the night of 28 October 2023 when a sudden, intense lightning storm with powerful winds caused it to become entangled with its mooring and be blown onto the reef, causing significant, irreparable hull damage. All passengers and crew were evacuated safely and reported ashore. No deaths or injuries were reported.
